What we have today:
The United States currently enjoys the most advanced system of medicine in the world. If you are suffering from cancer or a chronic medical condition, there is no better place on Earth to find high quality care than in an American doctor’s office, clinic or hospital. Indeed, over the past 25 years, five of the six most important medical discoveries and 70 percent of Nobel Prices in medicine have come from the United States. However, access to cutting edge medicine is unequal and millions of Americans are uninsured.
What liberals want to create:
The Democrat "tri-committee" health care reform bill is now being debated. Read the Ways and Means Republicans "dissenting views" concerning passage of HR 3200 by clicking here.
Read an open letter to physicians by Congressman Nunes here.
The new system, envisioned by the President and his Democratic colleagues, would control healthcare costs by rationing benefits and setting prices. It would destroy the remnants of the free market currently associated with American healthcare. Innovation would be slashed, choice would be limited and the problems currently experienced by Medicaid beneficiaries would be thrust upon the rest of the nation. In short, healthcare in America would experience a devolution to the lowest common denominator.
A better way: The Patients' Choice Act
In sharp contrast to the President's BIG-government plan, my colleagues and I have proposed legislation that centers on choice, affordability and quality. In our view, the American people deserve a healthcare system that is centered on their individual needs. Our bill, The Patients’ Choice Act, will allow us to achieve this goal, while improving health outcomes, lowering cost and guaranteeing access to healthcare for every single American.
